Resident Reading DK's blog

Any resident who reads this entry please see DK asap for a reward!

3-way meetings

Time to schedule 3-way meetings. Mentors and residents please get back to me with date and time.

Residents should be taking on small daily tasks in the near future such as leading the Do Now or explaining one homework problem a day. Also grading pre-asessments and doing a student AND an item analysis would be a good idea. Residents should NOT at this point grade quizzes or tests or take attendance due to the legal issues involved. The resident can take on these tasks in a few months time.

Mentor and Resident Meetings

1) please send your current email address to Susan Berglund and Hollee Freeman asap.
Hfreeman@bpe.org and Sberglund @bpe.org

2) Mentor meeting/orientation on Monday, Sept.14th. Residents will be there from 4-5:30 and mentors from 4-7. This is in lieu of the summer mentor training. Hollee is working on getting mentors grad credits again this year. BTR would like to offer child care during the mentor meeting if you have any ideas about how to do this, please send Hollee an email.

3) Resident Meeting Monday, Sept 14, 11-12:40 in room 240.

BTR Sub Policy

Substitute Teaching

Residents are not allowed to serve as paid substitute teachers in BPS.

However, as an in-kind service, Residents may assume teaching responsibilities for a Mentor teacher only when the Mentor is engaged in BTR-sponsored professional development activities including: BTR Mentor meetings, workshops, classroom/school visits, Selection Day, etc. Residents will not be compensated for assuming any classroom responsibilities while the Mentor is engaged in approved BTR professional development.
