Urban Farming Garden Day
On Sunday, June 4th, a group of freshmen students spent the day with the Urban Farming Institute of Boston at the Sportsmen’s Tennis And Enrichment Center in Dorchester. Together with Student Support Counselor Ms. Downey Leonard and her husband, the group worked in the garden and helped construct a shed with volunteers from other local high schools. The Urban Farming Institute of Boston’s mission is to develop and promote urban farming as a commercial sector to create green collar jobs for residents, and to engage urban communities in building a healthier and more locally based food system. Thank you to Patricia Spence and Bobby Walker for inviting Fenway and providing an wonderful, educational day for our group!
