Back to School with Peterson Toscano
We’re days away from the beginning of the new school year. The classrooms are clean and organized, the groundskeepers are hard at work, and the school is buzzing with returning and new faculty members alike. The school year will kick off on Tuesday, September 6th with an Opening Day Ceremony featuring this year’s guest speaker, Peterson Toscano.
Mr. Toscano is a self-described “quirky queer Quaker performance artist and scholar.” On Tuesday morning, he will return to Fenway to perform his comedy, “Everything is Connected-Stories, Most Weird, Many True”, for the entire Fenway community. His piece addresses the interconnectivity of various, seemingly disparate, societal issues: sexual and gender identity, race, climate change, and the environmental, amongst others. Mr. Toscano’s mission is to “connect with his audience in deeply personal ways, stirring up hope and purpose in a rapidly changing world.” What better way to begin a school year than with a thoughtful, comedic exploration into our own unique identities and experiences as we reconnect and reengage with one another?
The Fenway faculty and staff are excited to see everyone on Tuesday morning. Enjoy the last few days of summer!
