Student Clubs and Groups
Getting involved in after school programming is an important part in the life of Fenway students. Extra-curricular activities may change from year to year, but students are encouraged to get involved in at least one activity in order to stay engaged and contribute to the school community. Some of our offerings include the following:
Academic Support/SAT Prep is offered throughout the year. More information is available from the students’ teachers.
Art Club meets weekly in the newly-created art space. Students work with faculty to create artwork in a variety of media and styles.
Culinary Club: Project Bread teaches a variety of classes related to simple and easy food preparation. They teach students helpful kitchen skills that every cook should know. Class topics vary but center around the theme of cultural awareness. Students work together to choose culturally focused menus for each class. Menus use healthy, fresh, and budget-friendly ingredients.
Fenway Debate Team meets weekly and work towards debating in tournaments both nationally and in the Boston Debate League. Students learn the skill of argumentation, speed reading, analysis, and note taking while discussing topics anywhere from immigration, the war on drugs, or mass extinction.
The Fenway Sports Program includes Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field, Baseball, and Softball. Practice and game schedules are available from the coaches. Football, Volleyball, and Soccer are also offered as co-operative teams with other local high schools.
The Fitness Rooms are available after school for student use when faculty supervision is available.
Music Club – Students with or without musical experience are invited to weekly gatherings to learn more about guitar, piano, and/or drums. Mr. Bodine, an avid guitarist and music producer, has a minor in music from Boston College, and he provides instruction in both instruments and music theory.
Student Government works to give students a voice in the school.
